Hokano @ Uptown

Had read about this place from several bloggers. So when I had an opportunity, I quickly flagged this place as a great place to eat. We nearly missed the restaurant - located on the same row as Maybank, near a pharmacy. If I didn't read about it being a half-shop I would have probably not find it.

Unfortunatley, it was right smack at dinner time when we arrived. They didn't have seats for 5 pax and we had to wait. The weather wasn't great either as it had rained the whole day.

Anyway, here is what we had....after a long anticipated wait.
Softshell crab - DH's must have dish at Japanese restuarants. It was OK, nothing fantastic. Will probably try the spider-roll next time.

Hokano roll - IMHO, this was the best dish of the night. Nice mix of everything. Inside the roll, there is prawn tempura, crabstick and cucumber. On outside, there is eel, avacado and tobiko. The overall texture and taste was good.

Katsudon - Heard this was good too. Unfortunately my nephew didn't quite like the onions and egg mix. Should have just ordered Katsu set for him. MIL polished it off anyway.

Salmon teriyaki - Since the fish wasn't 'fishy', it passed my books!!

Tempura Udon - Good that they separate the tempura unlike some places. It was quickly slurpped into 4 tummies in record time!

This was Master Prince's choice - Kani and Tobiko sushi rolls. He likes them dipped with lots of soya sauce.

I would definitely come back here again. Food was pretty reasonable and affordable. Service was a little slow but then the restaurant was pretty full and busy that night. Ha ha, guess everything may seem an like an eternity especially when extremly hungry!!

Side note - Noticed a few tables ordering the seaweed salad, must give it a try next time. Though I think we may still prefer endamame since MP enjoys them. He thinks the salt is 'sugar' even though we have corrected him a number of times - that boy really is in his own world!!
