Sungkyunkwan Scandal!

official website
(more enjoyable if you see more than just 'o's' and '1's'!!)

Just wondering whether other KDS fan-friends are following this drama??? Personally can't wait for it to be available on DVD. So in meantime following (very closely I might add) re-caps on dramabeans.

But if you can't wait (like me), just wanted to share that you can read faster recaps by Snoopy's Twinkie. Also, can read more about the book translated by yogurutu.

In case you are wondering, I'm not a fan of DBSK, TVXQ or JYJ though I do enjoy listening to one or two of their sentimental/slower songs.

This seems to be one of the more interesting k-dramas currently being shown. And yes I know it can be watch on-line but super grumbles with my internet bandwidth speed which is suppose to be broadband but doesn't behave like one, making on-line viewing last like 10years hrs instead of one!!

Kim Tak Gu

If posts are a little slow its because of this show!!! haha

Just out on DVD and grabbed it after reading that it hit Korean 'national drama status' ~ that's roughly 40% tv ratings & finished the series close to 50%, so was curious. Too bad dramabeans wasn't recapping this drama so didn't have much idea what it was all about other than the storyline centres around baking bread.

Its a pretty good Kdrama. Didn't expect that many tear jerks so was caught by surprised. Those intending to watch, make sure tissue box(es) are within easy reach *might as well stuff the whole damn box up the nose or just under the eyes permanently or something!* Generally the casts were good at their role, good or otherwise especially especially snooty evil lady Seo In Sook!! *feeling very grateful and blessed with my mil!* :)

“I’m Kim Tak Gu. Not Tak Gu because I’m good at ping pong (tak gu). High Tak, Saving Gu. Kim Tak Gu! Please take care of me!”

Now excuse me while I sooth those puffy panda eyes of mine with some used iced tea bags as I re-adjust my sanity dial back to normal daily life.

Here are some heart-warming themes or life lessons from the show - source plug found here.

BEING CONTENTED ON WHAT YOU HAVE.
- This was shown by TakGu. Wanting something that it is not meant for us will make us greedy and selfish.

BEING HAPPY WHEN YOUR LOVED ONE IS HAPPY.
- TakGu is willing to let go his happiness just to see that his happiness is choosing what will make her happy. I know that this part is sometimes impossible to do but I can relate in him… I’d be more willing to sacrifice and make way just for my love one to be happy.

FOCUS.
- There’s nothing impossible to achieve if you know how to put your eyes, mind, heart and soul.

SINCERITY to earn it.
- Don’t let your MISFORTUNES in life be just a misfortune. Make the best out of it and let it serve as a lifelong learning experience.

DON’T BLAME OTHERS.
- We shouldn’t blame others on the things that are happening in our life. We are the ones who decide our own path to take.

ALL DESERVES A SECOND CHANCE.
- Someone who did something wrong in the past have the right to repent and redeem himself & live in the right way.

IF SOMETHING IS MEANT FOR US, IT IS INDEED FOR US.
God has plans for each one of us. If something or someone is really for us, it will be driven back to us no matter what we do to avoid it.

DON’T LIVE YOUR LIFE FULL OF HATRED.
- If we know how to just forgive others and know to love them, others will also do the same to you.

LYING HAS NOTHING TO DO GOOD ON US.
- All BIG things started from small ones. If you learn to lie when you’re still little, there will come a time that other people won’t trust you anymore.

DON’T HESITATE IF YOU ARE ABOUT TO DO A RIGHT THING.
- There’s no right time and place for doing what is right because doing what is right is what WE SHOULD ALWAYS DO.

HAVE TRUST, FAITH, BELIEF IN YOURSELF & WITH THE PEOPLE AROUND YOU.
- Be confident on what you are doing and look at others equally with trust and belief. Although the world is not perfect, we should learn to have faith.

WRONG THINGS WON’T BE REMEDIED BY SOMETHING WRONG.
- Remember that the END does not satisfy the MEANS. Wrong things should be CORRECTED.

BEING LOYAL AND DOING THE BEST EVEN IF YOU KNOW YOU’LL NOT BENEFIT.
- The eldest noona showed this when she made her best to serve their company to the fullest of her ability. She remained loyal to what she thinks is right… So in the end, she got what she deserve.

LEARN TO SHOW RESPECT and BE GRATEFUL.
- As TakGu (coming back to the PalBong Bakery) he showed his respect by bowing down to the company before leaving. Symbolically, he knows that the company had taught him many experiences to learn. In the other way, TakGu came back from where he started, the PalBong Bakery. He is really grateful that PalBong Bakery is where he started and it is where he found his dreams.

IF YOU TAKE SOMETHING FROM SOMEONE YOU WILL LOSE IT DOUBLE.
- As JinGu Hyung said it MaJun, taking what is not meant for you will just make you LOSE someone or someone MORE valuable than the thing you took… (KARMA).

USING FIST LEFT FOR THE ABSOLUTE LAST.
That is what a GREAT PERSON does.

THE KINDEST PERSON IN THE WORLD WILL BE BLESSED.

last but not least....
THE MOST COMPASSIONATE PERSON CAN CONQUER THE WORLD.

Adding two more.

Living is about experiencing.
Master Pal Bong says [paraphrasing here] that living life is about experiencing it so there’ll be moments of happiness, celebration, sadness, difficulties and challenges. No matter how hard life/situations can get, what matters most it is how you face, deal and learn from them.

Live as or be a good person.
Living life as a good person means getting rid of hate, dislike, and anger. Only then can you dominate the world!

KDS - more updates

Gee....looking at my list here since my last post, seem to have chalked up quite a bit *shocked*

That explains the big dent in the couch and sore neck/shoulders. I need to get out more!

Enjoyed Most

Time between dog & wolf - Ah....Lee JunKi at his best - think he should do more action movies/dramas.

Painter of the wind - First drama with Moon Geun Young. Understood why she won the Baeksang Arts for this drama. And that is the only reason I bothered with Cinderella's Sister but doubt I'd go beyond reading recaps as personally didn't like all the angsty dark anger.

You're beautiful - First came across Jang Geun Suk in Beethoven Virus. Loved the teen-idol drama. Liked the fun-loving character Jeremy very much!! ha ha

Enjoyable

Prosecutor Princess - Interestingly, found this more enjoyable than Personal Taste....could the reason be the fetish for fashionable high heel shoes?! Before watching, would have placed my money on the latter.

City Hall - Only watched it because I'm just a HUGE Kim Sun-Ah fan. Frankly didn't quite like the lead actor Cha Seung Won (just one of those things, nothing personal).

Brilliant Legacy - DH thinks Han Hyo Joo is very pretty. I agree and also like Bae Soo Bin, so that makes us 'even'. ha ha

Will it Snow for Christmas - Yes....I cried buckets and got bad puffy eyes, so if pick this up if you need a good cry movie!

Last Scandal of My Life - Ajuma fighting!

OK-lah, can watch

Personal Taste - Shallowly picked this up because of Lee Min Ho but found his character very serious most of the time, ah but when he smiled - just too cute for words. *guys reading this can just roll their eyes and just ignore this statement*

Thank you - In the dramas I've seen with Gong Hyo Jin, noticed the roles/character she portrays always seems somewhat sad, down cast & pitiful.

Return of Illjamae - Picked this up based on javabeans recommendation since bored waiting for World Cup to end. Enjoyed reading the recaps more than actually watching the drama. No offense to Jung Il Woo but found his acting too wooden for me - didn't like the acting in My Fair Lady either. But must say that he has a nice smile. As for the scenery and kung-fu moves, what can I say, I'm just spoilt by the likes of Zhang Yimou, John Woo and other HK action movie stars like Jet Li, Donnie Yen and Jackie Chan which really make the 'action' in this drama pale in comparison. Granted Il Woo is not a martial arts expert but he definitely wins hands down in 'pretty' looks!!

So-so

Boys Before Flowers - Only watched it because of the hype. Fast forwarded most of the way. Lots of googly boys. Reading recaps was more interesting. What pretty cool was probably getting to see GJP's bento box.

3 dads, 1 mom

SaRang Hee - picked this up by mistake, thinking it was another drama.

Sweet 18

Currently reading recaps on Coffee House, looks like a fun drama to watch, can't wait for the DVD release. Could the reason be Kang Ji Hwan?? Hm...in the meantime, will check out the drama Hong Di Gil.

KDS - my list/take

KDS = Korean Drama Series

Are you a fan?

Think it all started with Daejanggeum being shown on TV; from there started to watch more KDS as I find them light and entertaining with romance plot although always predictable, is naive and innocent. Personally try to avoid the weepy melodramas and go more fun romantic comedy types. Comedy is a must otherwise it gets too intense and weepy! *don't want puffy eyes the next morning!!*

Have not ventured into Hong Kong, Taiwan or Japan series as not sure what's good to watch.

You can view KDS synopsis here, here or do your own search on the internet, there are many sites you can find out in more detail and decide from there. *beware you don't get hooked, lolz*

Not until this post did I realize I've watch so many!! ha ha ha Don't get me wrong, I'm no KDS Queen, honest - as some of these I caught them when they were aired on TV!! ;)

Tagged them based on my own personal opinion simply as 'must watch', 'entertaining', 'Ok-lah' and 'so so'.

Note - sources of all imagines obtained from internet.

Must watch

My name is Kim Sam Soon

Coffee Prince

Ok-lah, can watch

My 19 year old sister in law

If you've come across any 'good or better ones', do recommend by dropping a note!
