The yesteryear way

Recently, I came across a noodle seller peddling his food the old-fashion or retro way. I was somewhat intrigued as it is not a common scene, especially in a developed ‘city’ like PJ!

I’ve seen him a few times along Jalan SS 2/24 and SS 2/30 but the earlier times I didn’t have my camera with me. He would cycle his stall along these roads during lunch times (around 12 pm). Instead of using a radio recorder (like those irritating newspaper vans) or horn or bell, he lets his patron know that he is around by clapping two pieces of wood together and using his loud voice to announce his arrival. I wonder if he ever loses his voice!?

I was surprised to know that he has been selling his noodles around this area for more than 30 years!!! I mean I’ve been around, how come I never see this Uncle??

He serves his noodles in traditional porcelain bowls (not those Styrofoam wares!). His regular patrons would then take their hot bowl of noodles back to their shop to savor the food and then he will come back (in his rounds) to pick up the empty bowls. I believe he sells prawn and clear soup noodles.

Unfortunately I didn’t get to try his food as I had already prepared my lunch. But this bowl of noodles looks good doesn’t it.

If you want to reminisce down the good ole’ simple days or just want to check this Uncle out, do wait along this 2 roads during lunch hour during workdays or Saturday. Don't worry about not having a place to eat his noodles as he does takeaways too!
