Bentos #264 & 265

Bento #265

The froggy bento made by bentolicious was just too cute.

Since I didn’t have any zucchini, thought I recycle the crust ends of the bread (which normally gets thrown away) for this bento. Will update later with a basic bentorial on creating the cute frog.

In this bento, jam sandwich, some carrot sticks, cheese and jackfruit.

Bento #264

Another ‘plated’ bento – Star shaped onigri with furikaki sprinkles, stir fried cabbage and carrot, egg patties and braised chicken feet with mushroom.

From a young age, MP took a liking to eating Chinese mushrooms and chicken feet. Braised chicken feed is actually very tasty. For those gagging at the thought of this, don’t knock it until you try it. The chicken feet are washed cleanly and prep before being deep fried and then stewed slowly until tender.

So what part of the chicken feet is consumed you may ask? Well there is actually not much meat to the skinny feet. The delicacy is the soft springy texture of the skin which has absorbed most of the spices and sauce used to braise this dish.

Best opportunity to try this dish is on your next dim sum visit at the Chinese restaurant. Let me know if you try it.
