Bentos # 177-179

Bento #179

Breakfast bento - Some nutella sandwiches with endamame, papaya and half a boiled egg with soya sauce in the pig container. The 'mouth' of this sauce container is larger than the normal soya sauce container so I told Master Price to be a careful and not squeeze too much otherwise, too salty if not messy!

Bento #178

Dinner bento - Brown rice with BBQ pork, tofu squares, broccoli and cauliflower.
As you can see, it was overflowing with new picks - just love them!
The 'bees' were made of cheese using a heart cutter.

Bento #177

Lunch bento - Fried noodles with some leftover stir fried vegetables, broccoli and fried bean curd. Can't decide if its a 'ninja' or 'mummy' slice of egg! Actually wanted to do a face but ended up with this instead!! ha ha

Hihi, are you the Javapot that left a comment on my blog? if yes, just dropping by to say hi and wat cute & wonderful bentos u make!!!

Can I ask u something? Whenever I steam those edamame beans and then string them on the picks, it tends to break into 2, do u experience this? Any tips? Normally, I steam more than I need so that out of 2 or 3, I can save 1! Haha! ;)

Hi shoppingmum, tks for your kind comment :)

Hi Tona, tks for dropping by. I actually tend to boil mine. But steaming is fine too. If you boil yours, make sure the water is boiling before you throw the frozen endamame. I notice that they will sink to the bottom of the pot and when they are ready, they will float to the top.
Sometimes mine do break but generally they tend stay in shape.
Ha ha, aside from cooking reasons make sure that you string them through the centres sideways, i.e. horizontally rather than vertically since the latter will split in the centre more easily. Hope this helps.

angeleyes, think the bee idea came from a japanese bento-er but can't remember who, too many la.

tona-mama, actually i was thinking of my reply last night and wanted to add that steaming is probably better than boiling as the nutrients will not be 'boiled away'.

ok, glad to be of some help. hope the next string of beans will be better!
