First thought was 'cat' but looks a little different with rounded ears and bushier tail.
Sorry for blur small photo - blame the camera as it couldn't focus (sigh). One taken with flash and the other without as MP was shouting to turn off the flash otherwise I will scare it away - so excited somebody!!
Could be a possum - common night visitors in some house backyards in Australia ….but here in Malaysia???
Sort of a racoon? But again probably not likely.
From the ferret family, possibly?
Finally it hit me….musang in Malay!!! Common types are Musang Pandan (Palm Civet Cat) or Musang tenggalung (Malay Civet)!! Ha ha ha…was thinking at that time of mau sang wong (raja kunyit….a species of durian).
Mystery of the masked animal - SOLVED!!
Hm, am wondering whether this is the animal that has been making the noise on our roof and causing mischief? At first we thought it could be rats as it was too loud for cats. Come to think of it, is it this animal that caused some commotion a couple of months back when our neighbours called the police in the wee hours of the morning?
Gonna leave the animal alone unless someone has any suggestion other than lodging a complaint to the Dept of Wildlife and Animals.

how did u get into ur room? how come ur area got so many animals.. hehe.. bats oso got!
I wouldn't quite say to lodge a complaint with the Wildlife Dept but ask them if they can help to catch it.
Other options are BOMBA and the Zoo although not sure if the Zoo can do it.
yor...u still can shot like that ahh? i would hv ran my life away & am so freak out by just lookg at yr photos...my gosh!! pls pls get rid of it lar...how to sleep well like that?? btw, does it harm ppl ahh??
Wen, we have some fruit trees at my dad's house so we have a few bats hanging around our porche for years (including squirrels). We've been trying to get rid of the bats for years to no avail though the numbers have now reduced to 2. My dad gets upset as he has to clean up their poop!
Wena, will definitely consider getting professionals to relocate them.
Jacss, this one was defintely not afraid of me. At first I took a couple of shots quite far away and when my camera couldn't focus and I wasn't allowed to use flash by MP I came up closer and it didn't even run away. Instead it was looking at me amused.
Btw, coincidentally my dad also saw a family of musang walking past his window. His initial reaction was to get the stick but then though it was too cruel. Can't figure where they 'nest' though. Mum thinks they are probably always on the move, looking for food.
