Puffed Pesto Curls

Just one of those days when you want a quick gourmet snack.
Perfect finger bite cum snack with wines.<>

What you need:
some puff pastry;
pesto paste;
some milk/egg to glaze the tops.

1. cut pastry into a triangle. spread paste and roll up.

For more detailed step-by-step instructions, click here. Basically same technique used even though I know the link is for making croissants.

2. brush with some milk or beaten egg.

3. bake at 180C degrees in pre-heated oven until golden brown.

Suprisingly even though this snack was quick to make, it actually took longer to bake them!!

Bench notes: Helps when you have pre-made frozen pesto sauce in the fridge. Note to self to make extra filling next time!

Hi Javapot,

How long is baking time? or use your eyes and nose only!?

ps: can bake them in toaster-oven?

gonna try them for consultants' meeting next week!

hi Emily. time to bake for me was approximately 50min in my oven. Initially thot maybe about 25min would be fine. But all u really need is to bake until the pastry is nice and golden brown. Sure i think should be ok to bake these in a toaster oven.

with snacks, m sure your meeting will go well :)

50mins!? maybe make them at home and heat up in toaster before serving then.

btw did you have to roll out the puff pastry before use?

ya Emily i was surprised it took so long (my suffered the most!). best to bake and eat the same day ya. i used pre-rolled & store bought frozen puff pastry so (ahem) didn't have to roll out at all, only cut and shape.
