Another batch of fortune cookies this time using melted butter instead of vegetable oil. Not much difference. (And yes my kitchen and house is a little cleaner.)For tried & tested recipe, click here.
Side comments - Not sure whether it is the recipe but the commercially bought ones have better texture, could it be the preservatives????

Those are so awesome! I tried making fortune cookies once but I couldn't get them into their shape and most of them looked pretty deformed. :( I'm going to have to try your recipe!
What exactly do you mean about the texture? By the picture, yours look absolutely perfect. You really couldn't taste the butter flavor at all? Really tempting, but mine would never end up looking like this!
what sort of messages you got there? 4D? 5D? 6D???? Those I likeee!
Any fortune cookies left for me? hehehe ... Have a nice weekend Javapot!
Hi Susan, personally prefer with veg oil even though logicall you would think butter would be better in terms of taste. Need both hands to make them and like pancakes, u get odd looking ones first but towards the end, they will be more perfect. :)
Hey Sheri, the commercial ones actually taste nicer, more crumbly like a biscuit. This homemade one is more like a crunchy cracker. Not much butter taste, a little more sticky compared to veg oil.
Emily, cannot think of messages let alone numbers (dont think u want mine either....haha ha, haven't gotten anything so far for me!!!). If you google, can get many messages - witty, motivational, funny, silly etc. I mainly chose the motivational ones. But some people have heaps of fun creating silly ones. Guess if get guests to write a few but not showing them, can imagine how fun that would be.
Lia Chen, still got some fortune cookies....actually gave some to sonny to share with his friends @ school. He loves reading the 'fortunes' and talking about them, etc.
