Bentos # 194 & 195

Bento #195

There was once a bear and a rabbit that lived together in a crooked house with crooked windows, doors and all.
They were best of friends and even owned an orange crooked dog.
They lived happily in their crooked house with their crooked dog.
And everyday, the cracked yellow sun smiled brightly at them!

*MP enjoyed the made-up rhyme, paused to check out the crooked house with the crooked windows, dog and all before devouring them!*

Ok now for the real story - I was in a rush (so what's new), ignoring hunger complains and fending finger food grabbers. So here's whats boxed (phew) - a jam sandwich with some hard boiled egg, grapes and strawberries. Some soya sauce in blue container for the hard boiled egg.

Bento #194

Dinner bento - Noodles with some mince meat, foo-cuk (aka fried bean curd), sweet peas and fruits (strawberries and mangoes).

Oven baked rolled asparagus

Another super easy dish. Great served with chilled wine :)

All you need are some asparagus (washed and pat dry) and a few rashes of bacon.
Wrap the bacon around a few sprigs of asparagus (note that I used the slim tip variety. If you use the normal large ones you might roll one bacon with one stalk asparagus, divided into half). Sprinkle a few drops of oil over the asparagus head and bake in a pre-heated oven for about 10-15min, depending how 'brown' you prefer your bacon to be cooked. Can sprinkle some herbs or a little pepper before baking them.

They were super yummy and as you could have guessed, there were no leftovers! *darn*

Other alternative methods to prepare the asparagus are:
1. Fry them using a grill fry pan.
2. Great on BBQs.
3. Prosciutto wrapped asparagus is also a simple but elegant appetizer.
