Starter (Days 4&5)

This post is a continuation of my earlier journey on cultivating and maturing a 7-day Starter. It also includes post on the Alternative Starter.

It was a happy sight to be greeted with bubbles in the morning.

This is the Alternative Starter, a little gross looking. Smells too!!

Scooped away all the muck, i.e. yellow and grey stuff and refreshed it with fresh flour and water. Looks better now doesn't it??

Another feed for the Starter.
Small tiny bubbles noticed on the refreshed Alternative Starter.

Greeted again in the morning with a bubbly mixture. Good sign.

This is the Alternative Starter, not sure whether you can see the tiny bubbles but not as bubbly as WildYeast's Starter mix.

Looking good and smelling good too.

Floyd's Pain Aux Raisins

Stumbled into Floyd's website and was immediately taken by his recipe for snails. Its funny how the things I do surround what Master Prince or my family likes. Anyway, these sweet bread look like the ones sold in Ikea and since MP likes anything with cinnamon and sugar, I thought these will be a clear winner with him! They turned out softer (and better, if I can say so) than the ones sold in Ikea, perhaps they used a different type of bread, dannish you think?

Since it was a public holiday, I decided to serve them for breakfast. It was quite a rush especially with hungry tigers prowling around the kitchen enquiring whether the bread is done!! So after managing to keep them at bay they were delighted with their yummy rolls.

I adapted the recipe a little by adding not only cinnamon and raisins but also choc-chips and almond flakes.

My family really liked this soft bread. This recipe is definitely a keeper, but the next time, I'll make them for tea instead - less rush for poor me!!
