In my previous post I wrote that Master Prince was rather sad about K not coming back. I think he was OK with her going as long as she came back!!
He was definitely morose the rest of the day but he did get to say ‘good bye’ over the telephone. Sorry, we thought it was best to protect you. We knew you were fond of her but didn’t realize just how deep.
As explained to MP, she came when you were 2 years old, leaving her same behind. Now that she has reunited with her family, we like to think that when she sees her same, she will think of you as you both grow up, likeness in age.
I recall a time when I was slightly bigger than MP my nanny had to make a trip to Ipoh (probably for a wedding dinner for a few days) but boy did I kick up a fuss and cried my eyes out. I vaguely remember my father and someone else holding me back!! Yep, it was quite a sight and quite a memory.
Guess it can be quite traumatic for a young-un.

Something to remember
It started out as a good-bye meal for Karsini and a welcome back meal for Alex (who sprain his wrist).
Yep my hands were itching to try something to bring some gratification to some tummies.
Breadsticks with herbs, accompanied with balsamic-olive oil mix. A little disappointed the sticks were not the crusty type. Shocked DH preferred his splattered with butter. How do you butter breadsticks? I suppose rolls would have been more appropriate. Again, I thought they were suppose to be crusty that's why!!! Back to drawing board I suppose.
Main dishes were ham quiche, mee suah kueh (yeah something new) and a trusty char siew meat.
Its been a while since I've made quiche. Need to work on the crust which came out a little tough *what went wrong :( * Filling came out great though, thanks to mum.
Mee suah kueh was interesting. It was OK but probably not something I will do again. Perhaps out shined by the other dishes??

Lily's char siew was good as usual. Note to self that good cuts of meat are a must!! Next time get dad to buy the meat!! Still great with wine.

For dessert, the main star was the durian cake. Unfortunately Alex (being a mat-salleh) didn't think agree. So, we had back up apple pie with cream, much to Master Prince's delight as he was still coughing and would have had to give the former 'powerful' cake a miss. Also, he had asked me to make it for him a while ago.

The apple pie crust was better than the quiche (thank god) but could be better. Think I was after the melt-in-mouth type.

Side note - the leftovers tasted FABULOUS!! Perhaps I should consider serving leftovers next time!! :)
**Perhaps I should also pen that Master Prince was fairly upset that K will not be coming back. Cried buckets and kept asking 'why she not coming back?'. As for my parents, they are looking forward.
